A Quantitative Analysis on the Factors Influencing Willingness and Perception of Indonesian University Students in Developing Hometown

Abstract


This study aimed to know the willingness of university students to come back and develop their hometown as well as their perception regarding regional development. The background of this research was the demographic bonus that will be faced by Indonesia in 2045. Authors see that the millennials of Indonesia nowadays who are at the level of university are included as the potential that should be maintained. They are able to give positive and big contribution to their own hometown to be more developed. It can also reduce the probability of centered-development to the big city only. By using logistic regression, it was found that studying abroad, the degree of loving hometown, and the level of understanding towards hometown potential having a positive impact on the willingness of students to come back. While, by the descriptive analysis, it was also shown that students have already had the positive comprehension to the regional development.
